These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of CGT Sorted (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
1. About CGT Sorted
CGT Sorted is an online software tool that helps users organise share transaction data and generate automated capital gains calculations for UK tax years.

CGT Sorted is not a firm of accountants, tax advisers, or financial advisers, and is not regulated by the FCA or HMRC.
2. Eligibility
To use CGT Sorted, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a UK taxpayer or using the Service in relation to UK tax obligations
By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Nature of the Service (Important)
CGT Sorted is provided as a general-purpose informational tool.
- The Service does not provide tax, accounting, financial, or legal advice
- Outputs are generated automatically based on data you provide
- The Service is not a substitute for professional advice from a qualified accountant or tax adviser
You remain fully responsible for verifying all results before relying on them for any purpose, including HMRC filings.
4. Open-Source Calculations
The capital gains calculations are performed using an open-source library licensed under the MIT License:

This library is provided on an “as is” basis by its authors. CGT Sorted does not modify the core calculation logic and makes no guarantees as to its correctness, completeness, or suitability for your circumstances.
5. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all data you upload or enter
- Reviewing and validating all outputs produced by the Service
- Determining whether outputs are suitable for your personal tax situation
- Any submissions, filings, or disclosures made to HMRC or other authorities
CGT Sorted does not validate your data and does not detect all possible errors or omissions.
6. Licence and Pricing
6.1 Licence Scope
Payment unlocks access to the Service on a per tax year, per profile basis.
- Price: £49.99 GBP per tax year, per profile
- A profile represents one individual (e.g. “Lancelot”, “Megan”)
- Access allows unlimited recalculations for that profile and tax year
- Access does not extend to other profiles or tax years
6.2 Duration
Once unlocked, access for a given profile and tax year is not time-limited within that tax year.
7. Payments and Refunds
Payments are processed by third-party providers.
Refunds are offered only at our discretion, except where required by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms creates an obligation to provide refunds beyond statutory requirements.
8. Prohibited Use
You must not:
- Use the Service in a way that implies CGT Sorted provides professional or regulated advice
- Resell, white-label, or commercially redistribute the Service without permission
- Use the Service as the sole basis for tax filings without independent verification
- Attempt to interfere with or reverse engineer the Service
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- CGT Sorted is provided “as is” and “as available”
- We make no warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, or reliability
- We are not liable for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in calculations
- We are not liable for any penalties, interest, additional tax, lost reliefs, fines, or other losses arising from use of the Service
If liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant tax year (£49.99 GBP).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited by law.
10. No Government or HMRC Endorsement
CGT Sorted is an independent software tool and is not endorsed, approved, or affiliated with HMRC or any government authority.
Use of the Service does not create any regulatory, KYC, or advisory relationship.
11. Account Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms.
12. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update the Service or these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on the CGT Sorted website.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
